Restaurante Rampa, Monchique

If you fancy a trip to the Monchique mountain and decide to go all the way to the top (Fóia), plan to stop at the Fonte da Santa (Fountain of the Saint – a spring of very fresh, natural water) and on the way down, have lunch at Rampa, on your left (parking on the right).

A quiet, unassuming little restaurant, with very reasonable prices and a sweeping view of the valley below – you can see all the way to the sea!, Rampa serves great local fare: chicken Piri-piri, an excellent eel stew and, of course, the bacalhau (cod fish). Try it grilled, with onion sauce.

Ana Paula and Ana Maria, her daughter-in-law,  speak (a little) English and are two of the family members who run this family-style restaurant.

To our clients they will give a real taste of the area: a little digestive after your meal – the famous Medronho… besides special attention of course, as Isabel Morelli was the one to suggest and  motivate Ana Maria to create an email for the restaurant! restaurantearampa@gmail.com

Hours: Closed on Tuesday, all other days open around 10:30 or 11:00, serving meals beginning at around 12:00 and ending at around 22:00.

Closed for holidays in January. Our advice – arrive for lunch at around 12:30!

Price range: € very reasonable

Enjoy!

A group of us visited Portugal for my 30th Birthday so decided to celebrate by visiting the Monchique Mountains, Isabel recommended A Rampa as a great place for lunch. The weather was perfect and the view was sensational! They were very accommodating as we had brought champagne with us to celebrate. We ordered Piri Piri chicken and fish; both were amazing although I think the Piri Piri chicken will be remembered as the best we have ever eaten…..Muito Obrigado.

I love that place – and the view is the best. I think I will print out this comment and take it to them next time I go there (I don’t think they check their email very often…). They will be very pleased. Thank you for your trouble, Erin, it makes a difference!
